Zeus is only 5 years old but cataracts have developed in his eyes.  He already has blank spots in his vision on the right.  Normally this happens when a dog becomes much older.

There is surgery that can be done and although it is usually successful it doesn't always last real long.  The surgery costs nearly $6,000 for both eyes, but ERU will do the surgery on one eye if enough funds are raised.  If there are a few good samaritans out there that would like to help Zeus keep his sight for a few more years please sponsor him.

1-12-10  I've been living in Massachusetts for a couple of months.  Most eskies love the snow, however, I am terrified of it.   You see, I lived in Florida for most of my life and never experienced snow.  I can only see shapes and shadows becauase of my cataracts, so when I walk in the snow, I don't know what it is and it scares me.   I'll only walk where my foster family has shoveled.  They think this is so sad because other eskies they know, find the snow positively joyful and my family wishes I could enjoy it too.   But  they say I am a sweetheart and love everyone I meet even if I can't see them well.  I can certainly make my way around with my keen sense of smell and my sharp hearing.  I enjoyed Christmas - all the company that came to visit - and I snuck a few things off the table which I know I really shouldn't do!  But I didn't get in very much trouble because my foster family loves me so much.   Please consider helping me out by donating towards my surgery.  Any amount is appreciated.

I love my new doggie friend and I don't even mind the cats.   I traveled all the way from Texas.  I used to live in Florida and then in a foster home in Texas.  Before I came to New England,  I completed the most awesome adventure I stayed in doggy Inn for two days being pampered and groomed then I rode in 5 different cars meeting new people and getting so much attention and pets!  I arrived in a place called New Orleans where they gave me a set of Mardi Gras beads and another stay in a posh hotel where my dinner was waiting for me when I arrived.  The next day it was meeting 3 new people and 3 new cars.  I have to say it was getting a bit hard for me as I am a bit "plump".  I arrrived at the foster "spa" where I will begin work on losing some of this weight.

I love attention, want to be with my person all the time and will give you so much love if you are willing to give me my furever home.  As much as I liked meeting all those people and getting all that love I want to be loved in my furever home.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
