Coco is the sweetest little eskimo boy. Coco was picked up as a stray and was not claimed by his owners. Coco was so matted with burrs and dirty, his hair was shaved from his neck down. Coco tested positive for Lyme and Ehrlichia (currently on doxycycline), probably because he spent most of his time living outdoors. He was so frightened when he first arrived in my home. It seems as though he was scolded or worse. He has been at the R'eskie Ranch for a few weeks now, and he is a happy boy. He loves all the other pups here, loves daily walks, and loves his yard and exploring. He likes everyone he meets.
X-rays showed density in lungs and an enlarged heart at his first vet appt, along with elevated liver enzymes. Coco will be on daily heart meds for the rest of his life.
At the follow-up visit, all the liver enzyme values decreased and the density looked the same. The DVM thinks he could have cancer or it could be scar tissue. We will do follow-up x-rays in another month to see whether there is a change in the density.
In the meantime, we are happy to have this lovely boy here at the ranch.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
