Update:  As of July 25th, 2010 I am Ehrichia free!!!  I feel great, have lots more energy, and am ready to join my forever family.

Hi everyone!  I'm Zeke and I am so happy to be here.  I wandered up to a house in AR and a nice couple let me inside.  I had recently been shaved to the skin so they thought I was lost and tried to find my owner.  They were unable to find my owner so they took me to a shelter (you can see me in the shelter in the picture below).  I was only given three days to live but my rescue angel Kelley found out about me and asked ERU whether they would take me.  Take me they did!  I was transported from AR all the way to MD.  My foster mommy took me directly to the clinic because my nails were so long I could no longer walk :(  I also tested positive for heartworm and ehrlichia - my foster mommy is currently treating me for these diseases.  I should be heartworm and ehrlichia free in about six months.  My foster mommy takes me on short walks each day so I can learn how to walk again.  I need a lot of rest but when I am up and about I wag my tail and come close so I can get some love.  I am a sweetie pie and am looking forward to being healthy and in my new forever home soon.  If you would like to find out more about me please contact my foster mommy Heidi at hortmeye@gmail.com

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
