Hello!  My name is Dakota and I’m looking for my new forever home!  I am very much a typical Eskie who is full of energy – I need a lot of exercise!  I am a bigger Eskie – about 35 pounds, but I’m not fat at all, just a larger build.  I am very strong though!

I am a sweet boy and would really do best with a family that understands the Eskie breed…like I said, I am very much the typical Eskie!  This means that I really am bonded to my family and tend to want to be protective of them from strangers.  So I really will need an experienced owner who knows how to keep me in line with doing the right things!  I learn very quickly but really need guidance to make sure I’m following your rules.  It would be great if I could go to training with my new owner to learn new commands – this would also help me learn to communicate better with my new family!   I do know some commands already so I am not starting from scratch!  But one of my favorite things it to curl up next to you and have you scratch my tummy…that’s so nice!  And I will give you lots of Eskie kisses too!

I am housetrained and also know how to navigate a doggie door.  I love the doggie door!  I am crate trained too, so I am fine in the crate while you are gone.  This is actually a good thing since I tend to be a bit mischievous when left alone.  When I am left alone, I think it is fun to get up on the kitchen counter to see if I can find any good food, so the best thing is to make sure I am safe in my crate if you have to leave.  I would do okay around older kids but since I am so active and strong, little kids would not be a good idea for me.  I am good with other dogs, but have not been around cats before.  I also have a bird friend, and I get along great with the bird. :)  I love car rides too, so I can go with you anywhere you want to take me!

I hope to find my new family soon…it would be a great New Year’s present!  I am really anxious to go to my new home!  If you are interested in me, the first step is to fill out the adoption application to get the process started.  Please let me hear from you soon!

 Love, Dakota

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
