Hi, Shadow here! I just recently came to ERU foster because my mommy was in a very bad accident, and was no longer able to care for me. You see, even though I am 12 years old, I am very active and I like to take long walks and play. You're only as old as you feel, I say - and I feel young! I am in very good health. In fact, mommy's vet couldn't believe I was 12 years old - he thought I was only 7 or 8.
My foster mommy says I am a VERY GOOD BOY.......she says that to me a lot. Is that a good thing? She also tells me I'm a gentle soul, and then gives me a kiss on my nose. I like kisses on my nose. I also like hugs, and pats, massages, snuggles before I go to sleep at night, being brushed, and did I mention massages?
My foster mommy also calls me her little teddy bear, and tells me I look like one. What??? I know I have kind of large paws and I'm kind of stocky and solid, but that's no reason for the name calling! I might be just a tiny bit heavy at 34#, but I am slimming down with our long morning and evening walks and the healthy food and baby carrot treats I am now eating. Did I mention I really enjoy eating? Sometimes I get so excited before a meal, I bark and twirl around, and dance in excitement. Mommy laughs at me when I do that.
I have a nice bed in front of a patio door, and I really enjoy sleeping there, where it is cozy and quiet. But I can look outside from my bed, so I also enjoy just laying there, resting, and watching what is going on outside. Mommy says I am a VERY GOOD BOY for running to my bed at night, curling up, and sleeping quietly until morning.
I am house trained, love to go for car rides, can't wait until my next walk, I get along well with people and other dogs, and I don't jump on the furniture (not like that Princess Diva who is also staying for awhile). I am well mannered and gentle, and I would be a wonderful companion for someone who is slowing down a little bit, just like me....someone who likes walks and afternoon naps and who wants to be home with me, so we can quietly enjoy life together.
