Hi, my name is Shelbie! I'm a 6-year old large standard-sized American Eskimo girl who stands about 20 inches tall and weighs 54 pounds. Yes, I realize I'm a "full-figured" gal who needs to lose a fair amount of weight. After my owner died last summer, I was kept tied up outdoors with no protection from the elements. I was free-fed and never allowed to get any exercise, but my new foster mommy has me on a strict diet and I've already lost 8 pounds! My new owner will need to exercise me and make sure I stay on my diet until I get down to my proper weight.

I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm also housebroken. I'm a sweet and active girl who likes to play with the other Eskies in my foster home, and I'm also good with cats and children. (Because of my size, if I get adopted by a family with kids it would probably be better if they were at least 7 years old.) I do display a bit of food aggression around other dogs, but that's understandable considering my recent past. My foster mommy thinks this behavior will go away once I realize no one is going to take my food away from me. Otherwise I have a very sweet and gentle temperament, and I get along with everybody.

I will make a great pet for someone who will give me lots of love and affection. Wouldn't you love to have me in your home and give me a chance at a wonderful life? I know I'm waiting for my new forever family-will that be you? If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Colcehster, CT with my foster mommy, Hayley.
