About Shasta!

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 04-168
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Shasta! I'm a 10-year old small standard-sized American Eskimo girl who weighs 20 pounds. I'm very sweet and very quiet (except when it comes to feeding or walking time-then you'll know I'm here!) My eyes look so sad in my pictures because I wasn't treated very well by my previous owners, but my foster daddy is taking very good care of me now and pampering me like I never have been before! My coat has already shown tremendous improvement over the past month and will be very thick and luxurious before long.

I'm recently spayed, current on all my shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, as well as on flea and tick prevention. I just had some dental work done, so now I have a beautiful smile to flash at you! I'm also housebroken and leash trained. Other than getting my treats, my two favorite things in the world are to go for long walks and car rides. I'll sit very calmly in your lap while you drive, and won't want to get out of the car when we get home! :o)

I'm a very gentle and "genteel" little lady who gets along very well with my foster daddy's dogs and cats. When I meet the young kids in the neighborhood during our walks, I'm very good with them and will sit quietly and patiently while they pet me. Except for those walks that I love so much, I'm not a very active dog-and definitely not hyper at all! My foster daddy is helping me to come out of my shell a little bit, and sometimes I will roll around on my back and play a little with my foster brothers and sisters. If you're looking for a calm and quiet companion in your home, then I'm definitely your girl! Wouldn't you love to have me in your life so I can show you how sweet I really am? I want to be spoiled like the princess I am. I can't wait to be in my new forever home with you!

If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Centreville, VA with my foster daddy, Bill. If you would like to know more about me, please send an e-mail right away!

Please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuers.org for more information on me!

You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuers.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Thank you and WOOF!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
