Hi! I'm Dakota and I'm a diamond in the rough. You see, I am tomboy who prefers humans of the female persuasion. I do not particularly like men or children, and I'm not fond of other dogs or cats. So I guess I need to be an only dog who will live with a single woman.
I'm a very special girl -- I'm very energetic so I need a regular exercise routine. I also need a fully-fenced yard for those quick bathroom trips that don't require a full walk. I came from North Carolina after my first mommy was transferred overseas. But when she took me to the vet before she left, she found out I was heartworm positive. So I went through treatment like a champ. Did I say that I'm full of energy, I love to play and have lots of spunk? :o) I am crate trained, too. I'm up-to-date on all vaccines and heartworm negative and I'm currently on frontline for flea & tick prevention & heartguard. When I go to my forever home, it will need to be a place where I get lots of love and attention. Actually you won't have a choice on the attention part. Because I will be with you all the time so you won't be able to forget to give me attention. I'm staying with my foster mommy, Deborah, in Rockford, IL. If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Deborah: deborah@eskierescuers.org. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $200 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF!
