Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Meet Chase! Chase is a beautiful standard male American Eskimo. Chase lived the hard life of neglect as a stray. The folks who surrendered him to Eskie Rescuers woke up one morning to find him sleeping in their living room. Their backyard fence gate blew open during a storm and Chase found his way inside through their dog door, to get out of the rain and have a peaceful sleep. Chase hung around and they let him stay, until they had to move and couldn't take him with them. Chase is a little nervous about change, probably because in his past, change did not mean good things. He was wary at his foster home initially, and it took several days before he relaxed and became playful, happy and friendly. Chase is pretty low key, mellow, and not real outgoing, so his adopter will have to respect this about Chase and give him time to feel safe, and to come around on his own time. Once Chase has bonded with you, he is very loyal and attached. Everyone who meets Chase thinks he is a VERY cute boy. Chase is quite smart and is eager to please the person he becomes attached to. He would benefit from and enjoy training classes. He knows "sit" and "come" and is very good walking on a leash. One of his favorite new activities is sitting on the sofa and cuddling.....and like a typical male, controlling the remote control! He is very loyal and loving, and would love to be your couch buddy or snuggle up with you for a snooze on the sofa. Chase gets along with all the humans in his current foster home (husband, wife and young boy). He is good with older children who respect dogs and understand how to behave around them, and loves the boy in his foster home. We don't recommend him in a family with toddlers or very young children. He is is not reactive around other dogs and is good with other non-aggressive dogs. Chase would also be perfectly happy being an only dog. Chase seems to particularly like men, so a forever home with a man who likes dogs and is looking for a constant companion would be ideal. Chase is pretty mellow. He would like a home where the owner was around much of the time, but is fine being home alone too, if you work. He is suitable for an apartment and walks well on a leash. Chase is a wonderful boy and hopes you will want to meet him. Please complete our online adoption application at www.eskierescuers.org if you are interesteed in giving Chase his forever home. Any questions can be sent to dyan@eskierescuers.org.
